Barcamps · Open Space · Conferences
Two formats, one tool.
At a barcamp the schedule appears in the morning. At a conference it takes months. Portego guides you through both, from the first idea to wrapping up the event.
The path through the event

The process is built in
Each phase allows what belongs to it. A closed call accepts no further submissions.
Five phases. The team can move back and forth at any time.
Ten phases, and they only run forward. You can step back as long as the programme is unpublished.
What Portego carries
The same for both formats, whether the programme appears in the morning or over months.

Why Portego?
pòrtego Venetian, from Latin porticus the arcade
The portego is the long hall on the upper floor of a Venetian palazzo. It joins the water gate to the land gate, and every other room leads off it.
It takes light from both ends and passes it on to the chambers, which have no windows of their own. What happens in them is still their own business.
There is barely any furniture. The hall is used: arrival, reception, celebration, passage. Nobody spends the evening in the portego. You meet there and move on.
Like the portego, our software holds an event together without being its centrepiece.
- No cookie banner. Portego sets only the identifier that signing in requires.
- Attendees need no account in order to propose a session.
- WCAG 2.2 AA. Tested in light and dark mode.
- Hosted in Germany, open source.
Have a look before you decide
The demo contains a made-up organisation with two events, one running and one coming up. You can touch everything in it. It is reset every night.
